Introduction

We welcome your participation and contribution to the 9th IEEE International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST 2018) to be held at the Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan in September 19 - 21, 2018.
This iCAST conference series started from the International Workshop on Aware Computing (IWAC 2009) held in Aizu-Wakamatsu, Japan, extended as the International Symposium on Aware Computing (ISAC 2010) held in Tainan, Taiwan, and became the current conference name, iCAST, from the third conference. Since then, iCAST 2011, iCAST 2012, iCAST 2013, iCAST 2014, iCAST2015, and iCAST2017 have been held in China, Korea, Japan, France, China, and Taiwan, respectively.
The biggest feature of iCAST 2018 is shown in its conference theme, Awareness Computing Meets Perceptual Psychology. We realized that human science research is necessary for iCAST series to jump up from awareness engineering applications to real awareness science and technology through organizing past iCAST series. For this purpose, we will organize the 3rd International Five-Sense Symposium (5-SENSE 2018) at the same venue on the same days, plan joint events, and allow all registrants to attend both conferences freely.
The conference is expected to provide an opportunity for the researchers to meet and discuss the latest solutions, scientific results and methods in awareness computing and an opportunity to learn something from psychologists.
As the same as last iCAST 2017, we expect the iCAST 2018 proceedings to be published by IEEE Xplore subject to fulfilling of all quality requirements of IEEE. We cordially invite you to submit your latest research results on awareness computing and to take part in the iCAST 2018 held in Fukuoka, Japan..
