Research On The Strength Layer Of Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipes
RTPs, oilfield, corrosion resistance
Abstract Accepted
Reinforced thermoplastic pipes (RTPs) are being dramatically increasing used in China National Petroleum Corporation(CNPC), owing to their good corrosion resistance and easily installation technique. Thousands of kilometers of RTPs have been applied for crude oil or natural gas transporting system. Several failures of RTPs service have been reported in CNPC. Therefore, it is emergent to study the effects of environmental factors including temperatures and carry out research on the strength layer (the fiber layer ) of RTPs. Different kinds of fibers adopted in the composite pipes show their own characters in application such as PET fibers and KEVLAR fibers. The results show that the strength of RTP pipe had varied rules with different kinds of fibers when increased the temperature from -20℃ to 65℃. The work provides constructive suggestions for oilfields and the suppliers on proper fibers selection of reinforced thermoplastic pipes. Finally, some suggestions are given for future application of RTPs in Oilfield.
