Centrifuge Test And Numerical Analysis For Buried Pipeline In Heteropical Site

Abstract Accepted
The pipeline system has been one of the main energy and material transportation systems, like the road, train and airline system. In China, the buried pipeline is the important tool of oil and natural gas transmission. However, the buried pipeline is very vulnerable under ground rupture; for reducing the seismic risk for the pipeline system of western-gas to eastern-transportation, this paper introduced a centrifuge experiment and a numerical analysis to model the buried pipeline damage under seismic active fault in heteropical site. This centrifuge test was built on a 100 g-ton centrifuge, and some important parameters were tested how to influence the effect of active fault on buried pipeline, such as the fault-pipeline orientation, fault offset, pipeline diameter and buried depth. The numerical analytical calculation based on ANSYS was compared with the experimental data and other results from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute tests and Cornell University tests, USA. Some valuable conclusions were provided.
