Biorefinery Production from Biomaterials by Zero Waste Technology
Abstract Accepted
The Sino-Thai research in our group focused on the bioconversion of the relatively more abundant biomass or biomaterials (sugarcane bagasse) into bioenergy (ethanol) and high value added biochemical / bioproducts (xylooligosaccharide and phenylacetylcarbinol) using zero waste technology that research group had relevant experiences in conducting these researches during the past twelve years. The research plan in the second year consists of three subprojects, namely, (1) “New catalyst or strategies for solving bottle neck of cellulosic and hemicellulosic biomaterials hydrolysis processes for biorefinery production” and (2) “High value added compounds production by biocatalysts or chemical catalysts”. The experiments conducted during the first year of 2015 NRCT were preliminary experiments to search for optimal conditions / processes for converting each type of biomaterials to ethanol and aforementioned high value chemicals. The experiments to be carried out in the second year will adapt the suitable conditions / processes and suitable raw materials for upscale level production.
