ABSTRACT: To simulate and analyze the creep process during the cold compression of agricultural and forestry waste and other biomass, we combined the biomass chemistry principles of elastic-plastic theory and contact analysis to establish a three-dimensional simulation model. In addition, a single-channel closed compression and a refilling stage were simulated. The displacement, equivalent stress, shear stress, and X-direction strain change laws of straw biomass during cold compression and the equivalent stress of the mold were determined. To further describe the compressed flow process, the refilling stage was considered, and the contact regions became more complex. The elastic strain, plastic strain, shear stress, and X-direction strain were obtained. Furthermore, the creep law of the cold compression densification process was theoretically revealed. The closed cold experiments were carried out under the same compression speed, which was compared to the compression from the second stage to the third stage after refilling. The results showed that the compression process can be effectively described by the simulation when the raw material entered the transition and compression stage after the loosening stage.
