Production of Aviation Biofuel from Lignocellulose Feedstock by Aqueous-phase Catalysis
Abstract Accepted
Lignocellulose biomass is an important alternative source for fuel and chemical. By using aqueous-phase catalysis, different platforms like HMF, sorbitol, levulinic acid, furfural and monophenols can be high efficiently produced by precisely design catalysts. With further adjustment of carbon chain length and structure, aviation biofuel can be produced via final hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) with our ultra-stable catalysts. Based on the fundamental research a new aqueous catalysis way to produce aviation fuel from lignocellulose biomass was proposed and a 150t/y demonstration system was build. For C8-C15 hydrocarbon composition in the aviation biofuel samples from pilot-scale, the content of n-paraffins is 21.5%, iso-paraffins 65%, cyclo-paraffins 12.8%, and aromatics 0.6%. The quality of aviation biofuel produced from demonstration system completely meet ASTM-D7566 standard. With these efforts, a new technology of produce aviation biofuel from biomass was proved and a 10 time bigger system is on the way.
