Aromatic Hydrocarbons Production by Catalytic Upgrading of Biomass Pyrolysis Vapor
Abstract Accepted
Aromatic hydrocarbons production by catalytic upgrading of biomass pyrolysis vapor were investigated. Different metals-loaded modified H-ZSM-5 catalysts were evaluated in the production of aromatics. The catalysts were prepared through the impregnation with Zn, Ga, Ni, Co, Mg and Cu. The catalysts were characterized by XRD, BETs, NH3-TPD and SEM. And different types of biomass, such as lignocellulose, vegetable oil and their mixture were used as the feedstocks. The products of catalytic upgrading were identified by GC/MS. Results showed that different loaded metals on H-ZSM-5 have effects on the yield and selectivity of BTX (benzene, toluene, and xylenes). The highest amount of BTX could be 78.68% using rubber seed oil (RSO) as the feedstock at the optimized pyrolysis and catalytic upgrading conditions. And co-pyrolysis of lignocellulose and RSO could effectively improve the yield and selectivity of aromatics and decrease the yield of coke substantially. The small pilot scale was set up to test this study. This catalytic upgrading of biomass pyrolysis vapor over modified ZSM-5 type catalysts will be a promising method for production of aromatic hydrocarbons, and benefit the biofuels and bio-chemicals industry.
