A multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) is adopted to improve the thrust characteristic of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM). Six dimensional parameters are selected as the optimization variables through the sensitivity analysis of twelve parameters on thrust characteristics. The optimized PMLSM has a 64% reduction in thrust ripple and a 6.6% increase in average thrust compared with the original PMLSM.
