Abstract
In this paper, a three dimensional magnetic equivalent circuit (3D-MEC) model is proposed for the modified homopolar linear synchronous machine (H-LSM), which analyzes the air gap flux density, flux linkage, back EMF and electromagnetic forces. By adopting the 3D-MEC method, the computing time for H-LSM is largely reduced with considerable computation accuracy at the same time, which is verified by the three dimensional finite element model (3D-FEM). Therefore, the preliminary design progress can be speeded up via the 3D-MEC model.
