Carbon footprint reductions through the use of renewable bio-resources are an appealing path to develop sustainable and economically viable green energy production. Biohydrogen production through biological processes is more eco-friendly. However, lower yield of biohydrogen is due to the shift in metabolic pathways towards other products. This could be overcome by photo-fermentation and by using nanomaterials with unique properties such as crystalline nature, stability, adsorption ability, catalytic properties, increased electric conductivity, and a high surface-to-volume ratio significantly enhances hydrogen generation. Hydrogen production by functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) in repeated batch mode was studied.  The effect of MWCNT concentrations (0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1, 1.25 and 1.5 mg/mL) on hydrogen production was investigated. The present study showed that 0.5 mg/mL MWCNT resulted in higher hydrogen yield (2.1 mL/mol glucose), hydrogen production rate (129 mL/g), and shorter the lag phase 12h as compared to control.
