Abstract
CO2 gasification of municipal solid waste (MSW) is an effective way of CO2 utilization and energy recovery. However, the effect of complex MSW compositions on co-gasification characteristics is still unclear. In this work, the contribution of kitchen waste, paper, electronic waste, plastic, rubber, and wood is explored by comparing the co-gasification performance parameters of experimental MSW (Exp-MSW) and calculated MSW (Cal-MSW). The results show that the activation energy of Exp-MSW (42.06 kJ/mol) is smaller than that of Cal-MSW (68.90 kJ/mol) in the volatile decomposition stage (≤700 ℃), but larger in the carbon gasification stage (800-900 ℃). The average activation energy of Exp-MSW (99.32 kJ/mol) is slightly smaller than that of Cal-MSW (99.80 kJ/mol), indicating the potential promotion effect of the MSW composition interaction. Principal component analysis shows that the biomass and paper contribute to a greater maximum weight loss rate of Exp-MSW (7.66 %/min) than that of Cal-MSW (6.66 %/min) in the volatilization stage. In the carbon gasification stage, the contribution of electronic waste and wood leads to a smaller maximum weight loss rate of Exp-MSW (5.49 %/min) than Cal-MSW (7.91%/min). At 700-900 ℃, the gasification cold gas efficiency (38.72%→68.40%) and carbon conversion ratio (23.43%→43.72%) of Exp-MSW increase with increased temperatures, which are all higher than those of Cal-MSW. The positive contribution of paper, kitchen waste, and rubber is significant, while that of electronic waste is negligible. The results of this work can provide classification guidance for the CO2 gasification disposal of mixed MSW.
