Hydrological situation information plays a very significant role in flood forecasting, reservoir construction and subsequent operation management, and hydrological situation level control,Therefore, for the safe operation of Irrigation and hydraulics  projects and reservoirs, the synchronous construction of automatic hydrological situation monitoring and reporting system is urgent.Starting from the main tasks of the hydrological situation monitoring and reporting system, this paper takes the case of Jiayan Reservoir in Guizhou Province to describe in detail the specific application of the hydrological situation monitoring and reporting system in the reservoir construction period and the later operation and management period, which provides a strong technical guarantee for the safety production during the construction period and the safety management of the reservoir during the operation period.
