In this paper, the influence of inerter on the vibration characteristics of dynamic vibration absorber (DVA) based on inerter-spring-damping (ISD) system is studied. By establishing a dynamic model of the DVA based on ISD system, the system dynamic equations are obtained. For the system with and without inerter, the theoretical values of the natural frequencies and the damped vibration frequencies are calculated respectively. Meanwhile, the displacement signals of the system under free vibration are obtained through numerical simulation, and the numerical simulation values of the natural frequencies and the damped vibration frequencies of the system are obtained. The deviation between the theoretical values and the numerical simulation values are within 2%. The results show that the inerter can affect the vibration modes of the system, decrease the natural frequencies and the damped vibration frequencies, and suppress the vibration intensity of the system.
