In industrial environments, transient sounds are often accompanied by equipment anomalies and failures. Monitoring of transient sound can help to detect potential equipment problems and failures in time, improving productivity and safety. In this paper, a distributed array source localization algorithm based on the conic affiliation function (CAF) is proposed by using the time-domain beamforming and fuzzy logic fusion method for transient acoustic source localization under a wide range of space. In addition, in order to apply different microphone arrays for localization, arrays with different array types and different numbers of array elements are energy weighted in the fusion process. In this study, three microphone arrays of different array types with different numbers of array elements were used to capture transient sound, and each array was used to estimate the source location individually; then fuzzy logic with CAF is used for data fusion to precisely locate the sound source. The experimental results show that the distributed array localization effect is better than the three single-array localization effects, and the average error of localization using the distributed array is reduced by 0.22 m. The localization accuracy is better.
