Abstract
[Objective] To evaluate the effects of water flow velocity on growth performance, muscle composition and blood biochemical parameters of juvenile hybrid sturgeon, thereby providing a reference for sturgeon seed production in Guizhou. [Methods] Juvenile hybrid sturgeon (Acipenser baerii ♀ × A. schrenckii ♂; initial weight 10.82±0.56g, n= 360) were randomly allocated to four flow treatments (1 BL/s, 2 BL/s, 3 BL/s, and 4 BL/s) and reared for 40 days. Growth indices, muscle nutritional composition and serum biochemical parameters were determined at the end of the trial. [Results] Weight gain rate followed a parabolic trend with increasing flow velocity, peaking at 3 BL/s (P<0.05). quadratic regression indicated an optimal velocity of 2.61 BL/s. Muscle crude fat(CF), total amino acids(TAA), essential amino acids(EAA), flavor amino acids(FAA), and total fatty acids(TFA) were maximized in the 2 BL/s and 3 BL/s groups, with significant enrichment of unsaturated fatty acids including DHA and ARA (P<0.05). Serum γ-glutamyl transferase (GGT), creatine kinase (CK), and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) showed significant changes, with GGT and CK reaching their highest levels at 3 BL/s. [Conclusion]Moderate flow velocities (2–3 BL/s) significantly enhanced growth, improved muscle nutritional quality, and promoted physiological health of juvenile hybrid sturgeon.
