Design of A Novel CPW-fed Ultra-wideband Printed Monopole Antenna

A coplanar waveguide feed ultra-wideband printed monopole antenna is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a radiating path with two bevels at the bottom edge, a coplanar waveguide feed line and a modified ground plane with two rectangular cuts at the up edge to improve the bandwidth of the antenna. Design of simulation and optimization is carried out using HFSS 15. The results show that the antenna working frequency range is from 0.8 to 22.2 GHz. And the impedance bandwidth reaches 184%. The proposed antenna shows a nearly omnidirectional radiation pattern in the H plane, and a dipole-like radiation pattern in the E plane. The antenna gain is above 2.45 dB over the entire frequency band.
