Introduction

Many countries are becoming aging societies and the proportion of people over the age of 65 is growing worldwide. There is a growing realization that the way we deal with the aging population has to change. We need to promote healthy aging and we need to develop technologies that can assist people as they age since there simply won’t be enough caregivers available in future as our societies age, if we keep using current methods and strategies.

This workshop is concerned with the problem of how to use technology to cope with the problem of aging societies, and to maintain good mental and cognitive health as people age. It will be a forum for researchers to share results and ideas on how to create technologies and services that benefit older adults and caregivers. We also hope that interactions between participants will lead to opportunities for international collaboration and research exchanges.
