Don't become inbred, associating only with colleagues teaching and researching in the same field as your own. Enjoy the collegiality our Conferences are known for. Do some cross pollinating and sharing of ideas and experiences with people bringing different backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives to the conversation. 

If you are a first time presenter, be at ease. Our people tend to be very helpful and give advise, not mean spirited criticism. If you have some research that is not much beyond a 'what I tried in class one time', you are encouraged to share your ideas. The purpose of a conference is for people to share research in early stages and gain feedback to help improve and finish the project. In fact many people thoroughly enjoy hearing what others are trying. Several research partnerships have been formed at our Conferences. So, if you are nervous because you've never presented before or you don't feel you have anything fully developed, submit your work and relax. After the Conference, you will wonder why you were nervous at all.
