The 22nd Inter-university Seminar on Asian Megacities

The 22nd Inter-university Seminar on Asian Megacities (IUSAM2017) will be held in School of Architecture, Tianjin University on September 16-18, 2017. IUSAM2017 is also a part of the School’s 80 Years’ Anniversary series events. We sincerely welcome all old and new friends from IUSAM family to submit your paper and participate in this conference.
The IUSAM2017 premising "Green City and Beyond: Local, Regional and Global Perspectives" is based on previous years’traditionsof IUSAM events, with a tribute to different spatial and social scales in green cities.  

Asia and Pacific Area is sustaining their rapid urbanization process in recent years. It has induced pressing demands on infrastructure, urban construction, properties and the subsequent social and cultural issues. Improvements of the urban living environment at the same time bring about potential environmental and social problems. For example, Chinese Government just lunched the Xiong’an New Districtproposal, probably the most ambitious regional development project in 21st Century which locates in a highly eco-sensitive environmental contexts of Northern China area. As strategic support to such mega projects, detail implementation of the planning, design, construction, operation and management of architecture, urban and landscapes have become challenging topics regarding the goal of efficient land use, strategic of urban and rural planning, resource management, environmental protection, urban renewal, public health, living quality, community construction, social equity and cultural conservation, etc. Consideration and attention have been given on principles of all aspects of green city and brought new topics for university and professional education. A broader perspective from international experiences will contribute for thinking locally and regionally, which is one of the initial goals of the educational and academic exchange opportunities provided by IUSAM.

All abstracts and full papers need to be submitted online through this website via the "submission" page. All absracts and full papers will be under peer reviews organized by the Paper Selection Committee led by Prof. Michael TOMELDAN of the University of the Philippines.
