Introduction

The 4th International Conference of Resources, Environment and Regional Sustainable Development in Northeast Asia (RESD) is organized by Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Northeast Normal University, Yanbian University, Jilin Normal University, Pacific Institute of Geography, Institute of Water and Ecology Problems, Institute of Biology and Soil Sciences, Far East Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (FEBRAS), Institute for Water and Environmental Problems, Institute of Natural Resources, Ecology and Cryology, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SBRAS), K-water Institute, Korea and Hokkaido University, Japan. On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, we most cordially invite you to participate in the 4th International Conference of RESD, to be held in Changchun, P. R. China on June 25-29th, 2018.

Northeast Asia is one of the important regions affecting the sustainable development of the world owing to its abundant natural resources, diverse environment and great potential for economic development. The theme of this conference will focus on issues related with resources, environment and sustainable development in Northeast Asia, discuss adaptable measures to these problems, and promote the cooperation, prosperity and regional sustainable development in Northeast Asia. Under this theme, key topics and breakout sessions will be scheduled. In addition, field excursions will be organized to provide participants a chance to appreciate some of the unique natural and civilized features in Northeast China.

Submission Topics

The major topics of the conference include:

  • Natural resources utilization, and the impacts on the environment and regional development

  • Environmental protection, including soil, water and groundwater pollution prevention and restoration, development of research for emerging contaminants, environmental health and risk assessment

  • Regional sustainable development strategies, including the Belt and Road Initiative, regional cooperation and revitalization, modern agriculture, rural development, tourism, and green development

  • Innovative methodologies and applications for monitoring water quality and natural resources, soil, forest and wetlands using RS and GIS
