Introduction
Welcome to the workshop on Semantic Data Analytics and Machine Learning in Bioinformatics and Medical Informatics (SMBM 2017) to be held in Nov. 2017, in conjunction with IEEE BIBM 2017 conference in Kansas City, USA. This workshop aims (1) to bring together researchers from disciplines related to semantic data analytics, machine learning and health informatics to share their research findings and their insights; (2) to serve as a forum for participants to discuss the challenges and the opportunities that lie ahead; and (3) to provide a networking opportunity for collaborations in regional, national, EU and international research programmes.
