Introduction

Celebrating its 49th year, the Conference brings together mathematicians and others interested in combinatorics, graph theory and computing, and their interactions. The Conference lectures and contributed papers, as well as the opportunities for informal conversations, have proven to be of great interest to other scientists and analysts employing these mathematical sciences in their professional work in business, industry, and government.
The Conference proceedings, which appear in the series, Congressus Numerantium, have been invaluable in the dissemination of important advances in the represented disciplines. The Conference continues to promote better understanding of the roles of modern applied mathematics, combinatorics, and computer science to acquaint the investigator in each of these areas with the various techniques and algorithms which are available to assist in his or her research. Each discipline has contributed greatly to the others, and the purpose of the Conference is to decrease even further the gaps between the fields.
The organizing committee (Frederick Hoffman, Ronald C. Mullin, and Stephen Locke) cordially invite participation in our Conference by interested persons in the academic community as well as business, industry and government. The conference advisory committee: David Brown, (Utah State University); Joanna Ellis-Monaghan, (Mount St. Michaels College and University of Vermont); Kim Factor, (Marquette University); Sarah Holliday, (Kennesaw State University); Marc Lipman, (University of Indiana-Purdue University, Fort Wayne); Maria Provost, (Florida Atlantic University).
The 49th Conference is partially supported by the National Security Agency (pending) and the Institute for Combinatorics and its Applications.
