Description

Since 2010, the many-core international workshop has successfully organized in Harbin (2010), Lanzhou (2011), Shenzhen (2012), Changchun (2013), Xining (2014), Lanzhou (2015), Chengdu (2016), Guiyang (2017). We are always dedicated to promoting the applications of many-core on science and technology. With the continuous optimization of the hardware, more and more algorithms got a superior speed up and a real-time large-scale calculation and simulation come true. Some new areas also arouse people’s interest and take rapidly developments, such as big data, machine learning. This international workshop in Kunming will focus on discussing and understanding the development of many-core and their contributions to acceleration in physics, engineering and data processing. We also discuss about the applications of high performance simulations and calculations in business and IBM Open Power will be introduced.

At same time, the super computer team leading by professor Yang Lei held the 1st application of GPU parallel computing Workshop in 2012 in Huzhu Qinghai, after that the 2nd and 3rd Workshop were held in Xining. In 2015, according to the proposition suggested by professor Chi Xuebin and Yan Lei, the application of GPU parallel computing Workshop and the application of MIC and GPU on multi-scale problems in science and engineering international Workshop merged into one using the later Workshop name (GPU-MIC 2015). In order to make our meeting more open, we renamed our meeting as "International Workshop of Many-core Solutions in Computing Problems in Science, Engineering and Big Data" in 2016. The workshop was organized  by the Institute of modern physics, and co-organized by the Network Information Center, Yunnan Observatories and Sugon.
