Thermal management system for lunar base has always been a hot topic for researchers, because the temperature difference between day and night on the moon is very large, which is almost 300 degrees. Therefore, this paper proposed a novel thermal management system combined with an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) and an ejector refrigeration cycle (ERC). In this system, the solar energy and waste heat from equipment could be used to provide cooling capacity to manned capsule, which made the most of heat in the base and guaranteed suitable environments for workers and equipment. In order to adapt to the operating environment of large temperature difference, eleven kinds of common dry refrigerant were selected and investigated. And the mathematical models of the thermal management system were established by using MATLAB and REFPROP. At the same time, the effects of key operational parameters, such as evaporation temperature, condensation temperature and refrigeration evaporation temperature, on the cycle characteristics of this thermal management system were investigated based on the optimal refrigerant obtained in this research. Results show that R600a has the highest coefficient of performance (COP), which can make sure the thermal management system has good cooling performance. It was also found that COP of R600a increased with evaporation temperature and refrigeration evaporation temperature and decreased with condensation temperature.
