As the physical form system of Energy Internet, Integrated Energy System (IES) plays a crucial role in the new generation energy power system. The coupling among various forms of energy brings challenges to the comprehensive planning of the overall energy system. This paper proposes a novel optimal planning method for region level Integrated Energy System which additionally takes into account the dynamic characteristics of the power generation equipment, energy conversion and storage devices. Firstly, configuration planning of a region level IES is introduced and defined based on the energy hub concept. Then, the planning problem is presented with two-level optimization structure: upper level identified the types and sizes of energy converters and storage devices, while the selected typical daily operating optimization conducted in the bottom level. In addition, minimizing of the sum of the investment and operating costs is employed as the objective of the planning problem. The proposed model considers the actual performance of energy converters and devices in off-design condition so that it can plan the IES avoiding the up-front investment and idle assets. Finally, an demonstrated example is illustrated to describe the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method.
