By changing the data acquisition mode of the wet cooling tower collecting basin liquid level, studied the law of water quantity loss of cooling tower. The water quantity loss of cooling tower was measured by U-tube liquidometer, real-time and accurate water quantity loss data were obtained. When the liquid level of collecting basin drops 1mm, the water quantity loss of one cooling tower is 1.38 m3. In stable engineering application operation and under different environmental and climatic conditions, the water quantity loss was between 84.7-144 m3 h-1. Through the accurate measurement of water loss and the established of water quantity loss law of cooling tower, and therefore, evaporation loss and drift loss can be analyzed conveniently and accurately. Thus kindly the hypothesis of Michael model is proved that the air in the tower is saturated air. And the laws for variation in evaporative loss and drift loss of the cooling tower were established. The testing and theoretical analysis of water quantity loss by the application of the test device will be widely used in the design and other related engineering fields, such as the control and research of water quantity loss of wet cooling tower and the drift recovery.
