Introduction
It gives us great pleasure to invite you to the 40th International MATADOR Conference to be held in Hangzhou, China on 8-10 July 2019. The MATADOR Conference was established in 1959, which makes it one of the longest running conferences in the field of manufacturing. It is a truly international conference, which attracts high quality peer reviewed papers and delegates from countries all over the world. The 40th International MATADOR Conference will provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of original contributions to the principles, techniques and applications in the areas of Manufacturing Processes, Technology, Systems Design and Integration, Metrology and Management. In addition to keynote lectures, there will be special themes. A prize of US$160 will be given to the best paper winner presented at the conference.
We look forward to seeing you in Hangzhou in July 2019.

Important date
Guidlines
1. Please upload an abstract of no more than 250 words by 5pm China time on 27th January 2019.
2. Papers and abstracts are accepted for review on the condition that the manuscript is original, and has not been previously published in a Journal or presented at a Conference.
3. Selected authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to produce the full paper by 31st March 2019. The full papers will be refereed, and accepted papers will be recommended to special issues of journals for publication.
4. It is intended to invite international experts as keynote and invited speakers and as session chairpersons both to provide a focus and to lead technical discussions.
5. It is a condition for the acceptance of a paper that at least one author registers for the Conference and presents the paper.
6. English is the working language of the Conference. It will be used for all printed material, presentations and discussions.
Selected papers presented at the conference will be considered for publication in special issues of the following journals:
