CNC/GNS/AgNPs composite aerogels functionalized with conductivity and antibacterial properties

Plant cellulose is the most abundant renewable and degradable biomass resource in nature. Researchers have been widely used in medical, electronics, chemistry, and other fields by preparing composite materials with different functions. In our work, we used plant cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) as the carrier, glucose as the reducing agent, and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) as the assembly raw materials, and introduced conductive graphene (GN) into the composite solution, and finally composite solution after freeze-drying, a 3D porous CNC/GN/AgNPs(C/G/Ag) composite aerogel was prepared. The properties of composite aerogels were studied by scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), specific surface area and pore size analyzer (BET). The results showed that the composite aerogel have mesoporous characteristics. When the concentration of silver-loaded nanocellulose was 0.2 M, the compressive stress was 1.8 MPa, which was three times that of pure CNC aerogel. When the addition amount of GN reached 15%, the maximum conductivity reached 11.2 S/cm. Experiments showed that the composite aerogel had a good antibacterial effect on Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922) and Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923). It provides scientific basis and research ideas for the in-depth development and comprehensive utilization of plant cellulose antibacterial conductive dual-functional composite materials.
