Scope:The development of massive open online courses (MOOCs) is reaching a level of maturity in the Higher Education area as well as inside the recognition of professional activities. MOOCs are constantly evolving and are finding their way as a new learning ecosystem. This IEEE conference provides academic and industry professionals the opportunity to discuss research into MOOC technologies as well as the practical aspects of creating and offering MOOCs to diverse worldwide audiences. Now in its eighth edition, LWMOOCs is a respected international forum to collaborate, share, network, learn, and display the latest advances in MOOCs. This edition will be the first hybrid edition in Latin America, following a great full virtual edition in 2020. The aim is to spread the MOOC movement and involve new institutions to enhance teaching and learning through technology.

The conference accepts submissions from a variety of MOOC disciplines and topics. Submissions range from technical research papers to hands-on and implementation focused contributions. All submissions are double-blind peer-reviewed and all papers presented during the conference will be published as a conference proceedings given to registered attendees. Accepted and presented papers will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore subject to meeting IEEE Xplore’s scope and quality requirements.
The LWMOOCS technical program is designed to maximize time for discussion and participation. It uses a single-track threaded with active-learning workshops, a multi-hour poster session where all accepted papers are presented, and short lighting-round paper sessions where all accepted papers are presented in 5-10 minute time slots. Paper sessions also include invited expert talks and keynote presentations from industry and academia leaders.
