Abstract
This paper presents a new machine topology configuration of self-aligning limited-angle vibration torque permanent magnet machine (LAVM). This kind of machine has a simple structure including 4 pieces of PMs and 2 stator teeth. It can generate high frequency vibration torque and its rotor can return to initial position automatically when the current is released. The design and characterization of LAVM were analyzed through finite element analysis (FEA) to figure out its operation principle. Furthermore, in order to increase the zero-position torque and obtain a better auto zero-returning (ZR) capacity, the parameters of this machine are optimized in the aspects of applied current value, PM geometric, PM-pole angle and stator tooth-tip profile using parametric sweep method.
