The First Iranian Actuarial Conference

I am pleased to announce that the First Conference of the Actuarial Society of Iran, which is scheduled to take place from 18 to 19 August 2018. This conference will be held in cooperation with the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences of Shahid Beheshti University.

The First Iranian Actuarial Conference aims to bring experts and researchers together to discuss and share ideas in all aspects of the actuarial science and in particular the three areas: life insurance and pension funds, health insurance, and financial and actuarial models.

Planning in the areas of insurance, social security and social health insurance is of high sensitivity due to the complexity in modeling and also the complexity of their social consequences. Decision making in these areas requires careful modeling by actuaries.

One of the reasons for the existence of the pension fund challenges is the disregard for the knowledge and professionalism of actuaries in this area, which, unfortunately, has had its consequences for the entire community. Social-health insurance also has a lot of complexity that, prior to becoming a serious challenge, a scientifically sound solution should be found.

The Actuarial Society of Iran believes that holding conferences of this type and regular expert meetings will provide a forum for exchange of ideas, pooling of knowledge and sharing of experience, and best practices.  Besides that it will be a step forward in establishing a network of actuaries in this country.
