Tidal process is key to ocean dynamics and also air-sea interaction, causing change in the associated biogeochemical cycles. With focus on the tidal impact of upper-ocean circulation in the North Pacific Ocean and East Asian Marginal Seas, we utilize an ocean circulation model coupled / decoupled with a tidal module, and analyze the tide-induced change in ocean circulation change, in particular, water exchange between the North Pacific Ocean and East Asian Marginal Seas. Our results provide clues to understand dynamical cross-shelf exchange of water, energy and carbon from East Asian Marginal Seas to the North Pacific Ocean along with global warming.
