In this paper, a model predictive current control scheme based on harmonic current extraction is proposed for three-phase three-level (3P-3L) VSIs. The harmonics of output current decreases significantly by adding the current harmonics as one of the control objectives to the cost function. Meanwhile, the reasonable distribution of redundant small voltage can realize the neutral point voltage without the need to design the weighting factor of it in the cost function, thus improving the portability of the algorithm. To confirm the feasibility of the proposed MPCC and show its advantages over conventional method, simulation results are presented.
