Vibration mitigation in floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs) is critical for ensuring structural safety and operational efficiency. This paper proposes a novel self-powered active mass damper (SPAMD) system based on a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) for FOWT vibration control. The SPAMD integrates a passive tuned mass damper (TMD) with an electromagnetic energy-harvesting damper, enabling simultaneous vibration suppression and energy regeneration. An economic model predictive control (EMPC) based on a simplified barge-type offshore wind turbine model is presented to optimize the energy recovery of the electromagnetic damper. Therein, the bounded states of the error subsystem are selected as the constraints of the proposed EMPC strategy. The effectiveness of the proposed EMPC controller is verified through real-time simulations on a dSPACE platform.
