This paper presents a deadbeat predictive current control (DPCC) method for the common DC bus open-winding permanent magnet synchronous motor (OW-PMSM) based on a sliding mode observer. First, a sliding-mode exponential-based adaptive current and disturbance observer (ACDO) is designed to predict future stator current and zero-sequence current (ZSC) and track system disturbances caused by parameter mismatches. Next, the one-step delay compensation in model prediction is replaced by the predicted current from the observer, eliminating the need for additional delay design. Real-time disturbances from the observer are used as feedforward terms in the DPCC controller for compensation. After calculating the reference voltage, the voltage vector is redistributed, and the zero-sequence voltage generated by modulating effective voltage vectors counteracts the third-harmonic back electromotive force.
