Introduction

The 2024 China Conference on Electromagnetic Compatibility and Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Technology and Industrial Innovation was successfully held from September 26–28, 2024 at Le Meridien Hefei Xinzhan.

The conference invited representatives from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. Over 30 universities—including Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Xidian University—sent electromagnetic domain experts; dozens of upstream and downstream industrial chain enterprises—including China Mobile and COMAC—as well as multiple banking and financial institutions participated. Nearly one thousand people attended in total. Lu Jun, Deputy Secretary of the Hefei Municipal Party Committee, and Yuan Fei, Member of the Standing Committee of the Hefei Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor of Hefei, attended the event, along with officials from Anhui Province, Hefei City, Xinzhan District, and High-tech Industrial Development Zone.

Academician Guo Guirong served as Honorary Chair; Academician Su Donglin as Conference Chair; and Academicians He Yue, Ouyang Xiaoping, Wang Shafei, Lu Jun, Yao Fuqiang, Wang Yanfei, Wang Zhonglin, and Li Erping as Co-Chairs. Academicians Chen Zuoning, Fei Aiguo, and Liu Shanghe delivered opening remarks via video; many others sent congratulatory letters.

This conference integrated academic sessions, exhibitions, and experiential activities, centered on the goal of achieving independent control and industrial innovation in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic environmental effects (E3). Its objectives included gathering domain experts, discussing cutting-edge technologies, and aligning with industry needs. It featured exchanges and demonstrations of new products, technologies, processes, and applications in EMC and E3 domains globally, building an interdisciplinary platform bridging academia and industry to promote talent development, scientific advancement, technological innovation, and industrial growth in China’s EMC/E3 field.

Technical topics covered electromagnetic compatibility and protection, EMI testing, electromagnetic safety systems, electromagnetic signature identification, electromagnetic situation visualization, electromagnetic environment spectrum sensing, complex electromagnetic environments, and application sectors including semiconductor devices, aerospace, rail transit, telecommunications, automotive, and maritime industries. Concurrent events included the 'Optical Chain Action' forum on frontier electromagnetic safety technologies for intelligent connected vehicles, product launches, new book displays, talent matchmaking, exhibitions of innovative and domestically controllable test instruments and equipment, and site visits and investigations.
