Rheology, as a science studying the flow and deformation of matter, serves not only as a fundamental discipline for material processing and fabrication but also as a key method for understanding the structure–property relationships of materials. Its applications span diverse fields—from polymer processing and petrochemicals to biomedicine, food, and light industry. Although China has made significant progress in rheological research, further efforts are still needed in popularization, theoretical deepening, and application expansion to narrow the gap with international frontiers.
This symposium is jointly organized by the Institute of Rheology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the School of Physical Science and Technology / Institute of Biomimetics and Soft Matter at Xiamen University, aiming to build a high-level academic exchange platform to advance both fundamental research and practical applications of rheology. A Rheology Training Course will be held on October 23–24, featuring lectures by distinguished scholars. The main symposium runs on October 25–26, bringing together renowned domestic and international experts to present cutting-edge advances and engage in in-depth discussions on rheology of polymer melts/solutions, emulsions, suspensions, gels, food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, etc. Poster presentations are encouraged, especially from young researchers. An industrial exhibition segment will also be arranged to showcase technologies, instruments, and practical applications, fostering academia–industry collaboration and technology transfer.
