Snow is a vital component of the cryosphere, and remote sensing is a key methodology for understanding cryospheric changes. In recent years, China's snow remote sensing community has achieved remarkable progress in theoretical innovation, practical applications, and team development. To further address the opportunities and challenges facing snow remote sensing science, and to promote academic exchange and collaboration, the National Symposium on Snow Remote Sensing has been successfully held eight times since 2013 in Lanzhou, Nanjing, Urumqi, Changchun, Xi’an, Xining, Lanzhou again, and Harbin—establishing a long-standing platform and mechanism for academic discussion among snow remote sensing researchers.
The 9th National Symposium on Snow Remote Sensing will be held in Shanghai, China, from May 9–11, 2025, hosted by the School of Geographic Sciences, East China Normal University. The symposium will focus on frontier issues in snow remote sensing, share the latest research advances, and foster academic innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration. We warmly invite domestic and international experts and scholars in snow remote sensing and related disciplines to gather in Shanghai to discuss disciplinary development trends, deepen academic exchange, and jointly advance the science of snow remote sensing.
