Introduction
To strengthen academic exchange in rock mechanics and engineering in China and promote scientific and technological innovation both domestically and internationally, the "CHINA ROCK 2026 – 23rd Annual Academic Conference of Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics & Engineering" will be held in Chengdu from November 20–23, 2026.
In line with the China Association for Science and Technology's "Key Points for Society Reform", and to address issues such as fragmentation, duplication, and resource waste in academic conferences, the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics & Engineering (CSRME) has proposed a reform direction of "internationalization, scaling, and integration". Building upon the successful implementation of CHINA ROCK 2018–2025, CHINA ROCK 2026 continues this "three-integration" approach to establish a world-class academic conference brand in rock mechanics, advance high-level international academic exchange and industrial development, and better serve students and young members in related fields. The conference adopts a three-tier venue structure: plenary venue + parallel sessions + satellite sessions.
Conference Theme: Enhancing Resilience of Major Rock Engineering Projects under Extreme Environments.
21 parallel sessions have been organized so far; satellite sessions are open for hosting applications from universities and research institutions, especially targeting undergraduate and graduate students.
The industrial exhibition will feature a 4,000 m² offline exhibition hall with six thematic zones, aiming to become a world-leading platform for technological innovation, serving equipment manufacturers, research institutes, universities, and related enterprises.
Call for paper
To further implement the "15th Five-Year Plan" of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics & Engineering and realize the principle of "publishing papers on the soil of China", CHINA ROCK 2026 offers four publication options for submitted papers, with submission opening on March 15, 2026 and closing on June 20, 2026.
(i) Publication in CSRME-hosted or partner journals: Authors submit full papers directly via the conference website. Topics must relate to scientific and technological achievements in rock mechanics and engineering. The Paper Selection Committee and Parallel Session Working Groups jointly select outstanding papers based on quality and journal standards, recommending them to appropriate partner journals. Recommended papers must be revised or extended before submission, with the note "Recommended Paper for CHINA ROCK 2026" added in the submission system and header. Final publication follows peer review.
(ii) Conference Proceedings: Papers not recommended to journals will be published in the official conference proceedings, which carry an ISBN and are indexed by CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure).
(iii) Preprint Platform: During the submission period, authors may choose to simultaneously publish their manuscripts on the eRock Preprint Platform for Rock Mechanics & Engineering at https://geotech.chinaxiv.org/server/geoindex.htm.
(iv) Abstract Book: A long abstract (no ISBN) is required for inclusion in the conference abstract book. Templates are available at http://chinarock.csrme.com.

Fundamental theories and methods in rock mechanics; multi-field coupling behavior and modeling of rock masses; stability of deep rock engineering; mechanisms and prevention/control of geological hazards; intelligent rock mechanics and digital twin; resilience enhancement of rock engineering under extreme environments; rock engineering challenges in new energy development; AI and big data applications in rock engineering; low-carbon and sustainable rock engineering; safety monitoring and early-warning technologies for rock engineering, etc.
