Introduction
The objective of the workshop is to bring together experts, researchers and students with interest in numerical methods and modeling for multimaterial flows, multiphase flows and turbulent mixing, and their application in science and engineering fields. The workshop keeps the traditional balance of the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and applications, and an emphasis is put on multimaterial flows and mixing in various fields such as inertial confinement fusion, combustion, chemical industry, astrophysics, etc. As has been done in the past, a special effort has been made for young scientists to attend this conference and to promote their interaction with the more senior researchers. The series of international workshops on multimaterial flows and mixing were initiated by the Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics with the first workshop held in IAPCM, Beijing, China in 2009. It is anticipated that the 3rd workshop will provide an opportunity for the researchers to exchange the ideas and create the knowledge in the field of the modeling and numerical simulations of compressible multimaterial flows and mixing.
