In the current age of intense global competition, companies continuously seek innovative ways to create differentiation, cut cost and increase profits through the delivery of highly competitive products, solutions, and services. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is such an emerging technology with great potentials enabling real time information visibility via wireless object identification, and object track and trace. Furthermore, RFID technology is expected to become a critical and ubiquitous infrastructure enabling technology, along with unprecedented explosion in sensor and wireless networking technologies to support seamless dynamically created communication and interconnections. Plentiful real world deployment towards developing emerging business opportunities via adopting RFID technologies demonstrates the practical use of RFID driving for business value through business operation and service innovations. It is evident through the support of agile and responsive business planning and business decisions by enabling the use of timely information from business participants' information systems, leading to, for example, shorter lead times, reduced working capital needs, and closer customer relationships.
