The 5th Aisa Protective Clothing Conference

It is my great pleasure of welcoming you to Hong Kong for the 5th Asian Protective Clothing Conference (APCC 2014), which will be jointly held with the 7th Textile Bioengineering and Informatics Symposium (TBIS 2014), in 6~8 August 2014 in Hong Kong. The theme of the conference is “Personal Protection and Health". Due to the critical challenges in population increase, population aging, environmental pollution and exhaustion of resources, personal protection and health and environmental sustainability have become the hot topics and focusing areas in the society. Innovations in the whole supply chains of textile and fashion industry can make significant impact on the key issues, including material innovations, textile and apparel manufacturing technology innovations, design innovations, marketing and business innovations and industrial cluster management innovations. I am hoping that APCC2014 will provide a platform to make a significant leap forward for promoting multi-disciplinary research with the concept of textile bioengineering and creating a new science to benefit our everyday life in terms of safety, health and sustainability. The Asian Protective Clothing Conferences (APCC) have been initiated as a platform for dissemination, exchange and discussion of results from research, development and implementation related to personal protective clothing and equipment. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Asian Protective Clothing Conferences were successfully organized and hosted by Dankook University (Korea. 2010), Shinshu University (Japan, 2011) and Taiwan Textile Research Institute (Taiwan, 2012) and Soochow University (China, 2013) respectively. The 5th Annual Asian Protective Clothing Conference (APCC 2014) will be hosted by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Hong Kong is a modern and exciting city. Welcome to Hong Kong.
