Data, as the source of evidence, shapes our knowledge. Software Engineering has become a data rich undertaking. Software practitioners and researchers are recognizing the benefits of data-driven research and analytics to support the development and maintenance of software systems, improve software design/reuse, secure software quality, and empirically validate novel ideas and techniques.
The objective of EAST series of workshop is to provide an international platform for discussing the state-of-the-art of empirical and evidence-based practices over the years, identifying and debating on the emerging challenges and issues in this area. EAST 2014 is aimed to advance the science and practice of software engineering via the analysis of data generated, collected, stored, and shared in software engineering practice and research. The workshop brings together both researchers and practitioners in software engineering, empiricists and data-analysts in research community, and encourages them to share their data. Moreover, based on the participants' input a research agenda will be devised for progressive adoption and improvement of empirical research in Asia-Pacific region.
