In the continuously developing Iron Age, annual crude steel production for Asia reached 1012.7 Mt in 2012, which exceeds 65% of world steel production. In order to establish sustainable society, Asian iron and steel community will surely play more important roles than ever. Meanwhile, we are still facing various issues to be improved, such as productivity, quality of steel products, environmental impact, etc. The 1st Asia Steel International Conference was held in China in 2000 for the purpose of exchanging information on issues related to the iron and steel production and processing, and thereafter it has been successfully held every three years alternately in India (2003), Japan (2006), Korea (2009) and China (2012). As a continuation, Asia Steel 2015 will be held in Yokohama, Japan on October 5-8, 2015, also in celebration of 100th anniversary of The Iron and Steel Institute of Japan established in 1915.
