Introduction

Welcome to the eighth edition of the Latin America Networking Conference, LANC’14, taking place in Montevideo, Uruguay, jointly with CLEI, the Latin American Computing Conference. This year the LANC will have two keynotes: Prof. Dr. Torsten Braun, University of Bern - Switzerland will talk about Mobile Cloud Networking and Prof. Dr. Mario Gerla, UCLA - USA, will talk about The Phone as Wellness Guardian. More information: Keynote Speakers The paper submission is now open: Only original papers (written in English) not published or under review elsewhere can be submitted. More information: Submission Instructions All accepted papers will be published in the ACM Digital Library. There will be a special issue of the CLEI electronic journal (http://www.clei.cl/cleiej) devoted to extended versions of a selection of the papers presented at LANC 2014. LANC is organized together with CLEI (Centro Latino Americano de Estudios en Informática), with the sponsorship of IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing) and in cooperation with ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) SIGCOMM. We hope that you enjoy LANC'2014, and that you will find here relevant research results as well as pointers for fruitful contacts with researchers in Latin America and other regions of the world.
