Introduction
自从上世纪90年代初CPA技术发明以来，超强激光技术的发展非常迅速。这些技术的发展导致强场和超快物理等基础研究的迅速发展，同时推动大量的具有重要应用前景的新技术的发展。在这种背景下包括CPA技术的发明人G. Mourou等人在内的超强激光技术的专家发起于2004年10月在美国举办了首届超强激光科学和应用国际会议（ICUIL’04），2006年9月在法国举办了第二届超强激光科学和应用国际会议（ICUIL’06）。第三届超强激光科学和应用国际会议（ICUIL’08）将于2008年10月27－31日在江南古镇同里召开。
