Introduction

The eChallenges e-2014 Conference takes place in Belfast, Northern lreland. This is the twenty-fourth in a series of annual technology research conferences supported by the European Commission and hosted by national governments. eChallenges attracts participation from senior representatives of leading government, industry and research organisations around the world. eChallenges e-2014 will provide an international forum to foster ICT related entrepreneurship and innnovation, share experiences, increase awareness of innovative applied ICT applications and research results, and identify opportunities for research collaboration under Horizon 2020, the new EU Framework Research and Innovation Programme that runs from 2014 - 2020. eChallenges e-2014 is technically co-sponsored by IEEE UKRI Computer Chapter and IEEE UK and Ireland Social Implications of Technology Chapter. Final papers accepted for inclusion in the Proceedings (following updates as a result of the blind peer review) and presented during the event will also be submitted to IEEE Xplore for publication. Each presenter will present one paper in the Programme. The goals of eChallenges e-2014 are to promote ICT Entrepreneurship and Innovation, facilitate Information Society and Applied ICT related knowledge sharing between government, industry and research stakeholders, raise awareness of the current state of eAdoption in developing countries, stimulate rapid take-up of RTD results by the public and private sectors, and identify opportunities for ICT related research and innovation collaboration under Horizon 2020.
