The increasing cost of medical services and shortfall in required number of medical experts has intensified the challenge to provide healthcare services to every corner of the society. Recently, the progresses of human-computer interface technology implemented on tablet PCs (personal computers) enables medical workers to utilize them for communications between patients and doctors at the time of condition analysis and diagnosis. Remote monitoring systems are gaining importance with the growth of sensor technology and support through various communication and signal processing systems. Healthcare services have recently witnessed several applications of remote monitoring systems in terms of diagnosis, telemedicine, pre and post hospital care, prenatal care, automation of drug delivery system etc. A common interactive platform for experts from Engineering & Medical science is required to boost R & D in this integrated domain.
