Computers, communication systems and other IT infrastructure have been posing severe environmental problems by consuming significant amounts of energy/electricity, which increases greenhouse gas emissions, and thereby causing global warming and pollution during their production and disposal. To reduce these environmental problems and create a sustainable environment, we require new models, algorithms, methodologies, tools and systems such that we can generate green ICT systems with high energy efficiency (low energy consumption), low greenhouse gas emissions, and control global warming. This also envisages less harmful materials which can easily be reused and recycled. Eco-friendly, in the context of ICECCS 2014,refers to energy-efficient and environment-friendly aspects of computing and communication,(green IT or ICT) for sustainable growth. In other words, it refers to environmentally sustainable growth in computing and communication or ICT. Therefore, the theme for this ICECCS 2014 conference is “Computing and Communication for Sustainable Development”. Thus, the theme covers all engineering disciplines (civil, electronics, electrical, computing, informatics, mechanical, chemical, management, mining, automation and other allied disciplines) based systems development for sustainable growth.
