With the development of science and technology and with space exploration, hazardous environment work, and production requirements of small batch and quick change-over, the traditional concept of mechanisms and robots development is facing a challenge in the 21st century to adaptability and reconfigurability.
The Third ASME/IFToMM International Conference on Reconfigurable Mechanisms and Robots is to follow on the success of the Second ASME/IFToMM International Conference on Reconfigurable Mechanisms and Robots. This conference is meant to provide an international forum for presenting and discussing new mechanisms and robots emerged in the 1990s with topologically adaptable mechanisms or robots and for discussing their uses in domestic, hazardous, outer space and manufacturing environments.
